What We Do

We develop AI systems specialized for the manufacturing industry and provide AI technology consulting.

In manufacturing, each product typically moves through a value chain spanning product planning, design, procurement, production, and sales. At each stage, a wide variety of data is generated: planning documents, requirement specifications, 3D product models, paper drawings, bills of materials, process design documents, trouble records, sales records, and more. Ideally, this information should be linked together as a coherent set for each product. In reality, however, Japanese manufacturers have made little progress in linking and managing this information, and the data they have worked so hard to accumulate is not being put to effective use.

At Airion, we are pursuing a variety of AI-driven initiatives to unlock this data lying dormant in manufacturing. While we excel at established AI application themes such as visual inspection, predictive maintenance, and demand forecasting, we also take a holistic view of these point solutions and pursue a more fundamental approach to data utilization—exploring how data should be managed using technologies such as LLMs and knowledge graphs.

Industrial progress has always been driven by technological innovation—the steam engine, electricity, the internet. Today, cutting-edge technologies led by AI are spreading across society as a new wave of transformation.

But excellent technology alone does not change industry. Shop floors hold decades of accumulated expertise and established work processes, and there is considerable friction between them and new technology. Our role is to understand that friction, implement technology smoothly on the ground, and turn it into the strength of industry itself.

We want to elevate cutting-edge technology from something reserved for a handful of specialists into social infrastructure that is used as naturally as electricity or running water.

What You Will Do

Airion is a University of Tokyo startup that develops AI systems and provides consulting specialized for the manufacturing industry. We harness the vast data lying dormant in Japanese manufacturing to develop AI solutions for visual inspection, predictive maintenance, demand forecasting, and more. We are also advancing R&D on data utilization platforms using LLMs and knowledge graphs.

[Open Position]
You will be involved in developing solutions for manufacturing that fuse AI and robotics technologies. Depending on your interests and skills, you will work on robotics development such as the following.

[Main Responsibilities]

• Developing visual inspection systems that combine image recognition AI with industrial robot arms
• AI × robot automation projects supporting PLC control and ladder program generation
• Software development for communication robots with built-in conversational AI
• Developing "skill-transfer support robots" that draw out veteran workers' expertise and turn it into knowledge
• Design support and process optimization robotics using 3D CAD model analysis and part recognition
• AI-based planning of robot work routes and placement
• Natural language control using robot foundation models

[Highlights]

• Experience full-scale, real-world AI deployment on a nationally selected project
• Be involved in every phase, from requirements definition to infrastructure
• Iterate rapidly on hypotheses based on feedback from the field
• Take on a broad range of advanced fields, including LLMs, image recognition, and optimization
• Depending on your results, you may be entrusted with a PM role and gain experience leading a team

[Requirements]

• Strong interest in the challenges facing manufacturing and a drive to solve them with technology
• Programming experience in C++ or Python (professional experience not required; experience from research, coursework, or personal projects is also welcome)
• Foundational knowledge in any of the following: robotics, control engineering, machine learning, or image processing

[Preferred Qualifications]

• Robot development experience using ROS or MoveIt
• Experience with data processing and system integration using various sensors (cameras, LiDAR, force sensors, etc.)
• Development experience using cloud environments or container technologies (Docker, Singularity, etc.)

Salary	Monthly salary ¥500,000–¥833,000; annual salary ¥6,000,000–¥10,000,000
Salary notes	・Working conditions during the probation period: unchanged ・Fixed overtime pay included: The monthly salary of ¥500,000–¥833,000 includes fixed overtime pay of ¥131,000–¥217,000 per month (equivalent to 45 hours). Overtime exceeding 45 hours is paid additionally.
